I also feel like this place helped to save my life, and, full disclosure, I did work for New Beginnings a tech for a while after I had achieved two years of sobriety. I felt compelled to write a review based on the two comments I saw below from Kasey and Lance. Not sure what happened with Kasey and his billing issues, but I'm sure there is a bit more to that story and maybe some miscommunication that occurred. They were entirely fair to me; I did have pretty good insurance at the time and my out of pocket costs were very minimal. I was there almost 9 years ago, so I don't remember specifics, but I know I did need to settle up at the end and pay my co-pays for some of the prescriptions I received while I was there. As for Lance, well, he didn't stick around long enough to see what the real patient rooms look like. The room he is describing is the observation area where they put those still in withdrawal so that they are near the nurses station should they need assistance. Yes, there are three beds in there (and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub!), and the beds are separated by a curtain. I can see where this might not be the most appealing situation, but they likely made it clear that this would be temporary, and that he'd be placed in to a long term room once he had been cleared by nursing, usually 1-3 days depending on how badly the person is withdrawing when they arrive. I believe I spent a full three days, but given that most people sleep ALOT while withdrawing, it didn't really bother me that I had people right next to me, and they fully encourage you to get out of there and walk around whenever you're ready to. As for the basketball and volleyball, they don't have that set up right in the main facility, lol! They have a separate building which is a rec center about 100 feet away from the main facility with basketball, volleyball, pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong, foosball, and a weight room. During the warmer months outdoor rec is available and they have a ball field used for that. Fishing is available anytime clients are not required to be in programming, for free, no license required! I'm not sure how Lance missed that as he probably had to walk right past it on his way to the road when he left. It's not about the luxury, it's about the quality of the care you'll receive there. If you want a private room, room service, and a staff that will kiss your ass, well you can find that up in Center City. New Beginnings has a family feel to it, it's on a beautiful chunk of land with 500+ ft of lake shore, and has a staff that will genuinely care about you, while you are there, and after you leave. They host an alumni dinner the first Saturday of every month, and several other events sponsored by their alumni association throughout the year. One last thing. I know the Jennifer that Lance mentioned in his review. She's worked there for 12+ years, is amazing at her job and is one of the most caring and compassionate people you're likely to meet.

I went into New Beginnings scared of the unknown. Would I have to deal with staff who treated me like a child, would my peers be people who have bad attitude's and make me angry? So many questions and all I knew was what my daughter had dealt with 6 months prior to my entrance. The first few days were learning the rules and daily routine, by the fourth day I had a melt down and became very angery and cursing at all the staff. They tried to talk but I wanted no part of it. Within 10 minutes I was calmed down enough to talk to the staff psychologist who had a wonderful way of calming all that she encountered. What I left new beginnings with was a new family. The overnight staff was incredible, always there when I couldn't sleep ready to listen or talk to me, it was a fantastic experience. The days were filled with intense programming that taught me things I never had expected from treatme. I told my friends and family I was going to the Humpty Dumpty facility to see if they could put me back together. I was completely amazed at how well they were able to fix me up by giving me the tools to fix myself. I would recommend New Beginnings to everyone who needs help to deal with life on life's terms, clean and sober and proud of me

I went as a family member of addict. Having been thru family week at Hazelden when our oldest was there, I can honestly say that Through the learnings and group that Matt Karayan lead, he not only is an excellent Counselor.... He gets right to the point and you walk away with "eyes wider open". A better understanding of not only the actions of our son, but of ourselves. I heard from our son that HE has a better understanding of his addiction and is learning tools to deal with it. I am a supporter.
