My son was successfully discharged after 7.5 months of treatment. This is a very good program, the staff is very specific about how each child is worked with depending on their needs. The family is heavily involved in the treatment, which is very important. It's not easy, be consistent, work hard, always show up no matter what, and never give up.

Omegon has been a 6 month process for me, soon to be even longer. I have to thank this program in many areas, there is true effort shown by counselors in your treatment and therapeutic procession, along with empathy and support. They will genuinely look at you individually, and go from there. In that, however, comes a lot of miscommunication between and room for manipulation for kids. Maybe not the best building aesthetic, but they've been trying to work on it, and it definitely has improved. Could not rate this as less than a highly intensive treatment center, probably some of the most locked doors I've seen in a non-secure facility, but that can help the many kids experiencing trauma and negative behaviors in reaction to that. Common to see behaviors within the milieu, but staff try to prevent it, and focus more on HABITUAL behaviors, which I feel is more successful than disciplining a kid for every single behavior. i've found much help in the mental health aspect of treatment, and they are very open to individualized needs and what you have to say. Only problem is higher-level staff seem to disrupt successful parts of the program at any given time, due to their opinions. Good program, decent food and very specialized treatment, and promising therapy. Room for improvements, but similar to anywhere else. Most successful in people with high-risk behaviors and multiple previous interventions before, in my opinion.

I worked at Omegon for approximately 10 years. I was a direct care staff, Unit Supervisor, and Clinical Coordinator during my time there. I experienced all levels of Omegon besides being a resident. I was continually impressed with the integrity of the team, willingness to examine what worked and what didn't, and how the residents were the center of each decision. I was equally impressed with the nursing and psychiatric care where the main goal was to use medications as one of the tools that may be helpful for long-term recovery and not the main tool.
